History
'Maramec' is a suspected 'Mahan' seedling, originating in Maramec, Oklahoma in 1933.
Comments
'Maramec' had average precocity and below average productivity in our test. 'Maramec' produced a large number of unfilled nuts (pops) resulting in a lower yield. Nut yield was also low in another test (Nesbitt et al., 1997). Nut size and kernel percentage was good for 'Maramec' in most years. Average harvest date was on October 19th. Maramec is not recommended primarily because productivity is too low.
